Entry: The Rutans

Planet of Origin: Ruta III
Description: Large, man-sized organisims, semi-Ameboid in structure, and Jellyfish-like in appearance; Tentacled with a bright-green phosphoresence.
Special Abilities/Skills: Bio-Electrical discharge, produced naturally by the Rutan's body. Capable of stunning, or killing most humanoid races. Rutans are also extremely strong, highly resistant to cold, are excellent swimmers, and can climb sheer-walls. The Rutans have also developed a highly-effective shape-shifting technique, detailed below.
Weaponry: The aforementioned Bio-Electrical discharge is their weapon of choice. When assuming other forms, the Rutans can use a wide variety of weaponry.
Weaknesses: Small caliber projectile-sidearms are uneffective, and the Rutan bodyform simply allows such projectiles to pass harmlessly through. Low-Power energy weapons are also largely ineffective. Their only true vulnerability is to extreme heat or to weapons which seperate their ameoboid physical structure.
Summary: The warlike Rutans are an unpleasant parasitic race. They have a complex collective hive social structure, and thus have no fear of death as each Rutan believes themselves to be just part of a greater whole. They feed off of the life energy of other living beings, and are quite savage. The Rutans have the ability to discharge a powerful burst of Bio-Electricity, capable of killing most creatures.

The Rutan race has also perfected an effective shape-shifing technique, which allows them to assume the form of any creature they touch. To do so, a Rutan must, for all intents and purposes, dissect the individual they wish to duplicate. While the process is not instantaneous due to the need for the examination, the Rutans can complete this process swiftly, and silently. Their ability to assume other forms ties in with the Rutan philosophy in which they believe themselves to be the ultimate sapient life-form.

The Rutans have stolen all their technology from other races, but are nonetheless adept at using it. They and the Sontarans have been at war for thousands of years, in a galaxy-spanning conflict which shows little signs of abatement.
